USADSF Blue Ribbon Committee Created
February 1, 2010
SIOUX FALLS, SD February 1, 2010 To address the issue of equality and full recognition of deaf and hard of hearing athletes in the United States, the USADSF has created a Blue Ribbon committee, led by Games Preparation Committee chairperson William Bowman to recommend the course of action the USADSF should take on the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).
Bloomington, MN The Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau has been awarded the 2011 United States of America Deaf Basketball Mens 67th and Womens 21st Annual National Basketball Tournament. This tournament will be held at Jefferson High School March 30th-April 3rd, 2011. This tournament is being hosted in Minnesota for the first time. Over 2,000 visitors are expected in Bloomington over the five days of this tournament.
There are currently 7 regions affiliated with USADB before Dec 31, 2009 deadline:
SEAAD, MAAD, EAAD, NWDBA, SWBAD, FAAD
Since we are a player-based organization, we made a decision that may not sit well with some of you--but, we feel we are respecting the needs of the players. One new region has been granted provisional affiliation for 2010 tournament in order that the central area teams have a place to play under USADB. That new region is CBAD. This will need to be ratified at the HOD in order to continue affiliation past May 1, 2010. Any dissention between CAAD and CBAD will need to be resolved between the two regions. The central area teams/players must decide what is best for them.
Further developments for New England teams wishing to be part of USADB will be announced later.

Bridgeport wants to play under USADB, and hopefully go to USADB national tournament. Since NEAAD chose not to affiliate for 2010, Bridgeport was advised to talk to EAAD and see if they could participate in the EAAD tournament since they have nowhere else to go. We have not yet heard from EAAD about the final decision.
