Bloomington CVB Awarded Major Deaf Sports Tournament

Bloomington, MN The Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau has been awarded the 2011 United States of America Deaf Basketball Mens 67th and Womens 21st Annual National Basketball Tournament. This tournament will be held at Jefferson High School March 30th-April 3rd, 2011. This tournament is being hosted in Minnesota for the first time. Over 2,000 visitors are expected in Bloomington over the five days of this tournament.

Participating in this tournament will be 16 National Deaf Adult Men teams, 12 National Deaf Adult Women teams, 16 Invited Deaf Adult teams, two High School USA All-Stars Deaf Boys and two USA High School All-Stars Deaf Girls teams, for a total of 48 teams from across United States.

"We are thrilled with the wonderful hospitality and warmth extended to us by the Bloomington CVB and we look forward to having our 67th Annual Men's and 21st Annual Women's National Basketball tournament in Minnesota for the first time ever! It will be a new experience for our teams to come up to a northern state. We look forward to our visit in April 2011, stated Shirley H. Platt, Commissioner of USA Deaf Basketball, Inc.

The Bloomington CVB enlisted the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Target Center to help secure the business through their community outreach programs.
