National Tournament 4-Years Plan
Posted: November 9, 2010
At our recent retreat in Salt Lake City, it was agreed to award the National Tournament hosts to the respective regions. The Region Presidents and USADB Board felt we should look into giving each region an opportunity to host a national tournament. We are pleased to announce the tentative national hosts.
2011 - Bloomington, Minnesota (MAAD)
2012 - SWBAD (Texas preferred)*
2013 - EAAD*
2014 - NWADB*
*tentative
If you or your club are interested in hosting a national tournament in your region, contact your region president first before your region can formally bid to be a site host.
We look forward to plan AHEAD and make USADB a stronger organization!
Please share this with your officers, players and coaches - Thank you!
Once again, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Mark Corson, Paige Matzker-Thompson, Christina Costello and most recently, Jimmy Miller for their help in keeping our Constitution, By-Laws and Guidelines up to date. Before we met in Louisville, Mark, Paige, Christina and myself made many important changes that was left off for a couple of years. Not only that but Paige and Mark went years ago to make sure everything was updated. We were able to come up with new proposals. After our meeting in Louisville, Paige made further revisions with new motions from 2010 Louisville Minutes. After Paige's revisions, Jimmy, Christina and myself double checked and thought it is most up to date.
Of course, we may overlook something and if we do, please let us know and we will make the correction(s) promptly.
Again, as we all know we still have a long way to go in revamp the whole thing. However, I need to say that we are almost all clean from previous motions and caught up. In this way, we will be able to make further revisions in which we will do. As always, we will keep you posted from time to time and the Governance committee will put together new proposals for us to consider before regions meet at their delegates meeting.
As always, USADB want to thank everyone involved in our attempt to clean this up! I remain committed to make further revisions along with you.
The USADB Executive Board and eight regions were asked to vote on the
Restricted Free Agent motion that was referred by the House of
Delegates to the Governance Committee last April 2010. The motion was
as follows:
HOD-2010-24 - Moved & seconded that the 2-year trial period for free agent becomes permanent. Referred to Governance Committee.
The Governance Committee recommended to continue RFA.
After much debate, and double-checking parliamentary procedure, more
than two-thirds of those voting were in favor to continue the RFA.
There was a strong feeling that we should continue the RFA
permanently. A formal motion must be presented from Governance
Committee to House of Delegates, where it must be seconded and then
ratified. A majority vote will be required.
Therefore, based on the above, the restricted free agent rule will
stand for 2010 season, with conditions as outlined above.
Voting Results:

Posted May 6, 2010
Regional Presidents,
Thank you for your patience as we took a little more time to clarify Tournament Director's job description. If anyone is interested, please submit your letter of interest and a resume and send it to Ms. Shirley Platt, USADB Commissioner by Monday, May 17th. As always, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Shirley.
Please share this with your officers, players, coaches and fans. If you know anyone who may be good for this position, encourage them to apply.

Bloomington, MN The Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau has been awarded the 2011 United States of America Deaf Basketball Mens 67th and Womens 21st Annual National Basketball Tournament. This tournament will be held at Jefferson High School March 30th-April 3rd, 2011. This tournament is being hosted in Minnesota for the first time. Over 2,000 visitors are expected in Bloomington over the five days of this tournament.
There are currently 7 regions affiliated with USADB before Dec 31, 2009 deadline:
SEAAD, MAAD, EAAD, NWDBA, SWBAD, FAAD
Since we are a player-based organization, we made a decision that may not sit well with some of you--but, we feel we are respecting the needs of the players. One new region has been granted provisional affiliation for 2010 tournament in order that the central area teams have a place to play under USADB. That new region is CBAD. This will need to be ratified at the HOD in order to continue affiliation past May 1, 2010. Any dissention between CAAD and CBAD will need to be resolved between the two regions. The central area teams/players must decide what is best for them.
Further developments for New England teams wishing to be part of USADB will be announced later.
