USADB Press Release: Ad-Hoc Committee to Study Tournament Payout

USADB formed an Ad-Hoc Committee to study USADB's practice of sharing tournament proceeds (profits) with the championship teams. A report is due at the next HOD meeting scheduled for April, 2012 in Houston, TX.
USADB Board released a memo clarifying that the $100 team registration fee replaced the $20 player fee. The $100 team registration fee was inadvertently omitted from the form.

News: Legendary AAAD Basketball Player Leon Grant Dies

The deaf basketball community was saddened to learn of the death of well-known and legendary basketball star, Leon Orlient Grant, age 67, on September 9, 2011 in Charlotte, NC.
He was a long time player (uniform #22) for the Los Angeles Club of the Deaf (LACD) with teammates Maurice Mosley, Jim Renshaw, Jim Spears, and others with legendary LACD Coach Lou Dyer, Manager/Scorekeeper Saul Lukacs and Athletic Director/Manager Marvin Greenstone. These storied players brought FAAD member club, LACD five (5) straight AAAD national basketball Championships during the FAAD’s golden years, 1966 through 1970.
He was also a star player for the Carolina team in later years.
Grant was on the 1965 World Games for the Deaf (Deaflympics) track team that competed in Washington, DC. He placed third in the high jump with 1.83.
Famed AAAD co-founder, leader and deaf sports writer, Art Kruger named Leon Grant as the athlete of the decade.
